Long term friends and collaborators of old, Christian Louboutin and Roland Mouret reunited at London Fashion Week for the Roland Mouret Ready-to-Wear show. The event marked a return to the capital for the French designer and the commencement of Mouret’s planned year-long 20th anniversary celebrations. A customised Christian Louboutin pump was unveiled on the runway, complementing the London-based designer’s Autumn/Winter 2017 collection - a study of his signature design aesthetic which included reworked archive pieces.
The collaboration style captures the unique sensuality of Roland Mouret collectionswith ease - a luxurious, wrap-around ankle strap comprised of two tone, textural material blends including nappa, suede and exotic leathers whilst a contrasting palette of black and taupe was punctuated by rich burgundy and teal across the six iterations of the style. Mouret’s prowess and fascination with silhouette was also interpreted through the collaboration style, its defined, point-toe construction and narrow heel creating clean lines in juxtaposition with the voluptuous bow fastenings. Roland said of the collaboration, “What Christian Louboutin is to a shoe, I am to a dress. We both make it to the same purpose, because we love women".
The show, the first ever such event held at London’s historic National Theatre, also saw models wearing Christian Louboutin Nail Colour. This final flourish was chosen by each of the models themselves, allowing them to add anindividual touch to their show look through the application of iconic Rouge Louboutin, Lady Page, Simple Nude, MissMars, Just Nothing, Sevillana, La Favourita, Bianca, Zoulou, Khol and Farida.
